to our academic and medical center.
TTUHSC at the Permian Basin is a vibrant and progressive community based medical school committed to providing state-of-the-art patient care, excellence in education and significant medical research. The Permian Basin regional campus, located in Odessa, is home to resident programs in Family & Community Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Psychiatry as well as clinical rotations and patient care in the department of Pediatrics. Additionally, we are home to six fellowship programs: Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology, Geriatric Medicine, Hospitalist Medicine, Hospice & Palliative Medicine, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. With openings for approximately 140 residents and fellows, our house staff receive a large amount of personal attention from our faculty in an intimate educational setting.
Most of the clinical experiences residents and fellows receive are provided at Medical Center Hospital, Odessa Regional Medical Center, Midland Memorial Hospital and our very own Texas Tech Physicians clinics in Odessa and Midland. Additionally, other local and regional facilities and private practice physicians and groups assist in providing graduate medical education and training. We believe a seamless combination of the aforementioned clinical sites provide a well-rounded and unique learning experience for our residents and fellows.
All residency programs meet the accreditation standards of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and our fellowship programs are accredited by ACGME or the Texas Medical Board (TMB). At the completion of your program program, all graduating residents are eligible candidates for specialty boards.
Although each individual program is responsible for recruiting, education, training, and evaluation of its residents, the GME office, the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), and the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) are responsible for the general oversight and monitoring of all programs. We will be communicating regularly with you before you arrive and throughout your time on our campus. The Graduate Medical Education Office is here to support your transition and your continued success at TTUHSC. Should you have questions about any program, please do not hesitate to contact us by email, phone or fax. As Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education, I have an open-door policy available to you for questions, concerns, or suggestions which may arise prior to and throughout your tenure at TTUHSC. We look forward to you joining our training programs and in assisting you towards the successful completion of your program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine at the Permian Basin.
