Dr. Robert Salem
Founding Vice Dean

Dr. Robert Salem graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and was drafted into the Korean conflict.  After his three year stint in the USAF Medical Corp, he started his general and vascular surgery practice in Lubbock, TX.

As a pioneering surgeon in West Texas, Dr. Salem is renowned for his role in bringing heart surgery to the South Plains of Texas, for his vital efforts in making a medical school a reality for his alma mater, Texas Tech University.

Dr. Salem currently serves as Chief Medical Officer Emeritus of Covenant Health System in Lubbock, Texas and Clinical Professor of Surgery, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Brian Pomeroy, MD, MEd

Assistant Professor and Pediatric Hospitalist, Department of Pediatrics

Dr. Pomeroy attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and completed his residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.  Since joining the faculty at TTUHSC School of Medicine in 2012, Dr. Pomeroy has had many roles within the school, including block director, clerkship director and his current title of Assistant Vice Dean for the Covenant Branch Campus.   He also serves as the Assistant Dean of Assessment & Program Evaluation for all campuses.  When he is not performing duties on the Covenant Branch Campus or managing his assessment role, he is a Pediatric Hospitalist and an Assistant Professor for the Department of Pediatrics.
