General Information

The purpose of this page is to serve as general guidance especially to our first-year residents on day-to-day activities in our ICU and CCU. This includes but is not limited to: commonly encountered cases, commonly used order sets (ie. vent bundles, sedative drips, vasoactive drips) for daily labs and new admissions (from ER and transfers), and basic guidance for daily electrolyte replacement.


Common admissions to our intensive care units:

  • Community acquired and Hospital Acquired Pneumonias
  • Post-CABG
  • ACS (STEMI, NSTEMI, etc)
  • Stroke - Ischemic and Hemorrhagic
  • Sepsis/Septic Shock (all encompassing)
  • DKA/HHS
  • CHF exacerbation
  • AFib with RVR
  • Toxic Ingestions
  • GI Bleeds
  • Cardiac arrests
  • COPD Exacerbation
  • Bacterial Meningitis
  • Decompensated Liver Cirrhosis
  • Perforated viscus
