Dear TTUHSC Students,
As of Monday, all on-campus academic classes transitioned to online instruction, and
I’m hearing very positive feedback. Thank you for your partnership in making the transition
a smooth process. I’d also ask you to join me in thanking our dedicated faculty and
staff for working diligently to make this happen in a short period of time. I am truly
honored to be part of such an amazing university.
As future health care professionals and researchers, you have an opportunity to be a positive role model for others at this time. I ask that you be vigilant in adhering to the social distancing as ordered in your respective communities and follow recommendations for proper hygiene. Please continue to visit our website as a centralized resource of university related COVID-19 information.
Status of Current Semester
Based on existing projections about the coronavirus, TTUHSC has decided to extend
on-campus academic classes to online instruction through the remainder of the spring
semester. This does not apply to students engaged in essential research functions
or clinical rotations. Students should continue to communicate with their direct supervisors
or program directors regarding research and clinical rotations. Those decisions will
continue to be made on a case-by-case basis.
Wireless Access Points
Over the past week, TTUHSC has completed the installation of exterior wireless access
points in the following locations — Abilene, Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, and Odessa.
(This does not apply to the Dallas campus at this time.) Those students who need internet
access may park in designated lots on campus and use their eRaider credentials to
log in to HSC-AIR. Although this may not be ideal, it provides another avenue by which
you can access course materials, as needed. Please refer to the campus maps to view
the designated lots.
Reporting Suspected or Confirmed COVID-19
All TTUHSC students are required to report possible COVID-19 exposures related to
clinical experiences to the TTUHSC Office of Institutional Health. Additionally, students
are strongly encouraged to report personal exposures to the same office. Contact Nicole
Hines, R.N., MSN, CIC, director, at nicole.hines@ttuhsc.edu or 806.368.2647 (staffed
24/7). Your safety and well-being are of utmost concern to us, and we will assist
you in following appropriate protocols and/or gaining access to available resources.
Communicating Confirmed COVID-19 Cases
As reported earlier this week, as new COVID-19 cases are identified among our students,
you will receive a notification.
Please strive to maintain balance in your lives during this time. Dedicate yourselves to finishing your courses with a strong effort, and be intentional in caring for your own physical and emotional well-being. Doing so will allow you to be more effective in caring for your loved ones and those in our communities.
