Community Practice in El Paso
Pharmaceutical Care Center

The Pharmaceutical Care Center is located on the Texas Tech School of Medicine Campus. It is a growing "Class A" Pharmacy staffed by the Pharmacist-In-Charge and one full-time pharmacy technician.

Our mission at the Pharmaceutical Care Center is to provide a level of care for the patient that goes well beyond the traditional pharmacist-patient interaction. The focus of the Care Center is providing disease state management to patients, as well as training pharmacy students to provide appropriate patient counseling to achieve maximum outcomes for patients. Within the course of a year, areas of focus within the PCC will be as follows:

In addition, residents will provide education to patients, other healthcare professionals and serve as an instructor for pharmacy students.

Pharmacists have more to offer patients than the safe delivery of medications. They can, and should, be intricately involved with their patients' overall health care. The resident, therefore, will be actively involved in implementing new patient care services as well as improve existing programs, to ensure that patients are receiving optimal healthcare. In addition to providing patient care, the resident will utilize the Pharmaceutical Care Center to enhance pharmacy operation skills. Developing effective pharmacy management skills is a fundamental objective of a community pharmacy residency. The opportunity to meld experiences from multiple practice areas will allow the resident to incorporate both fundamental skills and innovative ideas to exemplify effective community pharmacy practice.

The Pharmaceutical Care Center hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
