Science Camp | Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
TTUHSC students walking through Lubbock campus courtyard.

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s Office of Research offers a free week-long interactive and educational summer day camp for area high school students.

This camp is very interactive.  Participants engage in multiple hands-on techniques such as pipetting, DNA extraction, culturing bacteria, and crystallizing protein. Participants also tour many areas of the Health Sciences Center including active research laboratories, the animal housing facility, and the gross anatomy laboratory.  Participants will also visit the F. Marie Hall SimLife Center to learn about heart rhythms and ultrasound techniques.

Participants will have opportunities to interact with TTUHSC faculty, nurses, physicians, pharmacists, and graduate students in laboratories and during presentations.  In addition, there are opportunities to interact one-on-one with current TTUHSC graduate students for advice on navigating college, graduate school and beyond.

Application Requirements

  • Currently entering your sophomore or junior year of high school
  • Completion of at least one introductory course in Biology or Chemistry
  • Available to attend the entire week of camp
