International Applicant English Proficiency

English Proficiency

International applicants must demonstrate adequate proficiency in the English language before they can be considered for admission. All applicants are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and have an official score report sent directly to the University from Educational Testing Service. Minimum test scores for graduate applicants is 550 paper-based or 79 internet-based. Information concerning TOEFL may be obtained from:

The institution number for Texas Tech University Health Science Center is 6827. English proficiency will also be evaluated during the applicant interview.

The TOEFL is waived for international applications who complete a bachelors degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or for those who are a citizen of a country whose native language is English.
