Junior Volunteer and Mentor Program (JVMP)
TTUHSC Volunteer Services and the TTUHSC School of Medicine's Early Dedication to Medical Education Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) work to provide not only summer volunteer opportunities in a healthcare setting, but an entire program aimed at holistically developing teens who are interested in healthcare.
Junior Volunteer and Mentor Program (JVMP)
High schools seniors may apply for volunteering experiences with TTUHSC Volunteer Services through our JVMP program. Applicants who are accepted into the JVMP program will be assigned a weekly volunteer assignment through the entire month of July. These teen volunteers will share their assignment with a premed college student or HSC staff member who will serve as a mentor during the assigned volunteer time.
Volunteer assignments vary in duration, but usually last a minimum 4 hours and are offered Monday through Friday from 8:00 – 5:00. JVMP applicants will not be admitted in the program if they are unable to commit to at least a total of 16 hours for the duration of the program.
HSC Volunteer Services offers teen volunteer opportunities to those who are interested in volunteering during the summer, but there are limited spots. By working alongside our pre-med volunteers and staff members, JVMP participants will begin learning the culture and language of patient care.
JVMP will run through the month of July.
REQUIREMENTS AND HOW TO APPLY
Requirements for JVMP:
- Completed JVMP Application and signed Parental Release Form.
- Immunization history must be evaluated by HSC Employee RN.
- Safety Training completed prior to first day of volunteering.

Deadline for JVMP
- Application, Parental Release Form, and Immunization Records must to be submitted to Volunteer Services (via email, fax, or hand delivery) by April 30th. No late applications will be accepted.

Summer Enrichment Program (SEP)
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine's Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) is for upcoming high school seniors that are interested in medicine. This program
includes sessions in critical thinking, learning styles, professionalism, leadership,
mock interviews and much more. Students will also gain healthcare exposure and experience
the value of helping others through volunteer activities. SEP will provide these enriching
opportunities and memorable experiences for one week in the month of June.
