Rotations | Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center

Required resident rotations are dictated by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. The intern year includes general surgery, SICU, rehabilitation & emergency room medicine, as well and orthopaedics. PGY-2 & PGY-3 are junior residents with responsibility to provide 1st call, initial patient care for trauma patients entering the the ER and making initial evaluations. PGY-4 & PGY-5 are chief residents. Their supervisory responsibility increases and they help supervise and direct the activities of junior residents and interns. The following is a sample of rotations per PGY level.
