Infectious Disease Fellowship

The infectious diseases fellowship at Texas Tech is designed to foster a lifelong interest in infectious diseases. The curriculum emphasizes the clinical aspects of infectious disease problems encountered in the outpatient and inpatient settings.

Sexually transmitted infections are diagnosed and treated at the City Health Department with a liaison from TTUHSC infectious diseases staff.
Infectious diseases fellows attend the course in tuberculosis administered by the National Jewish Hospital in Denver.
Additional training exposures in tropical medicine are available.
Fellows are expected to pursue a research project, as well as present and publish their findings. The ultimate goal is to achieve subspecialty certification and recognition by the ABIM in Infectious Diseases.
Understanding infection control is a particularly emphasized issue of the fellows program.
The importance of antimicrobial stewardship cannot be overstated. An infectious disease pharmacist specializing in antimicrobial stewardship accompanies the team on hospital rounds.

Applications are processed through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). We participate in the NRMP Match and will accept applications for the fellowship through ERAS until August 15. Applicants will be reviewed and contacted to schedule interviews.
