How to configure Microsoft Outlook 2007 (Outlook Anywhere)

1. From the Windows Start menu, open Control Panel in Classic View then double click the Mail icon.
2. In the Mail Setup - Outlook window, click Show Profiles….
3. Click Add… to create a new profile.
4. Type a name you would like for the Outlook profile in the Profile Name: field then click OK.
5. Check the checkbox for Manually configure server settings or additional server types then click Next >.
6. Select Microsoft Exchange then click Next >.
7. Type bowie.ttuhsc.edu in the Microsoft Exchange server: field and enter your eRaider username in the User Name: field., then click More Settings….
8. If prompted with the warning, The action cannot be completed… click OK.
9. If prompted with a window to verify the Check Name credentials, click Cancel.
10. In the Microsoft Exchange window, select the Connection tab. Check the checkbox, Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP, under Outlook Anywhere then click Exchange Proxy Settings.
11. Under Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange:, type mail.ttuhsc.edu in the https:// field. Check the following checkboxes:
Connect using SSL only
On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
On slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
Ensure NTLM Authentication is selected under Use this authentication when connecting to my proxy server for Exchange: then click OK.
12. Click OK in the Microsoft Exchange window.
13. Back on the Microsoft Exchange Settings window click Check Name.
14. If prompted, enter ttuhsc\ followed by your eRaider username in the User name: fieldand your eRaider password in the Password: field, then click OK.
15. The Microsoft Exchange server: and User Name: fields will resolve with the verified server and display name underlined in both fields. Click Next > to continue.
16. Then click Finish.
17. Click OK to complete the setup of your account settings.
Note: If you have multiple profiles listed that you use, then you may want to select Prompt for a profile to be used when starting Outlook. You can always return to this menu using steps 1 and 2 to change this setting if desired.
18. You can now close the Control Panel and open Microsoft Outlook to access your e-mail.
How to configure Microsoft Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2003
Make sure Outlook is closed. Go to your Start Menu and select 'Control Panel', or it may be under Settings on the Start Menu, then select 'Control Panel'. In the Control Panel, if it is in Category View, click 'Switch to Classic View', open the Mail icon. Click the 'E-mail Accounts' button. Choose the option to 'Add a new e-mail account' and click 'Next'. (If you did not see a Mail icon in the Control Panel, close the Control Panel and try opening Microsoft Outlook. You should receive an 'Outlook 2002 Startup' or 'Outlook 2003 Startup' box. Click 'Next', then choose 'Yes' to create an e-mail account.)
Select ‘IMAP’ and click ‘Next’. Under Server Information (IMAP) enter mail.ttuhsc.edu in the ‘Incoming mail server’ box. If TTUHSC is your Internet Service Provider (ISP), the outgoing (SMTP) server name is mail.ttuhsc.edu. If your ISP is not TTUHSC, please contact your ISP to obtain the outgoing (SMTP) server name. For the ‘User Name’, enter ttuhsc/eRaiderusername/firstname.lastname. For the Password enter your eRaider password. Click ‘Next’ at the bottom of the window. Click ‘Finish’ at the bottom of the next window. If a box titled ‘Mail Setup – Outlook’ is open, you can close it.
How to configure Outlook Express 6
When opening Outlook Express, if you are prompted to set up a new e-mail account, click ‘Cancel’. At the top of the Outlook Express window, choose the Tools menu. Under Tools, select Accounts. Click the ‘Add’ button and then choose ‘Mail’.
Type your name as you want others to see it when they receive mail from you. Click ‘Next’. Type your e-mail address. This should be firstname.lastname@ttuhsc.edu. Click ‘Next’.
The next window will ask you what type of server you are using. Choose ‘IMAP’ rather than POP3. Enter mail.ttuhsc.edu in the incoming server box. If TTUHSC is your Internet provider, the outgoing (SMTP) server name is mail.ttuhsc.edu. If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is not TTUHSC, please contact your ISP to obtain the outgoing (SMTP) server name. Click ‘Next’.
In the Account Name box on the next window, enter ttuhsc/eRaiderusername/firstname.lastname. For the Password enter your eRaider password. Click ‘Next’. Click the ‘Finish’ button on the next window. Close the Accounts window.
Eudora, Netscape, and other e-mail software
Information Technology does not provide support for e-mail software other than Outlook Express 6 or Microsoft Outlook 2002, 2003 and 2007. The settings needed for other e-mail software are included in the instructions above, but it is the user’s responsibility to know where to enter the settings in Eudora, Netscape, etc. If you need assistance converting to supported e-mail software, please contact the IT Help Desk at (806) 743-2875 or ithelpdesk@ttuhsc.edu.
