Chip Shaw, Ed.D.

Vice President, Information Technology &
Chief Information Officer

Deploying innovative technology solutions has been a significant part of the history of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Information Technology (IT) has played an essential role in connecting our six campuses into an integrated system and providing critical clinical and academic services throughout the underserved areas of West Texas. Although the historical contributions have been significant, the strategic importance of IT to the University community has never been greater.

The Health Sciences Center has adopted a collaborative governance model that aligns IT with the overall mission and goals of the University. The IT Board of Directors includes TTUHSC's President, Deans, and Vice Presidents. The Board sets the overall strategic technology direction, defines IT priorities, and approves the IT policies of the Institution. Under the leadership of the CIO, the Information Technology Division works with students, technical and academic advisory councils to identify operational strategies consistent with the strategic direction and priorities set by the IT Board of Directors.

In collaboration with our constituents and the private sector, the Information Technology Division has deployed a robust portfolio of IT solutions and services that support the academic, research, and service mission of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. These solutions and services are provided in an efficient, effective, and customer focused manner by our employees in the Technology Services, Information Services, and HealthNet departments.

The IT Division understands that emerging technologies, security threats, and a growing demand for information technology services creates many opportunities and challenges. We are eager to continue to partner within the University, with alumni and friends, and to private sector to ensure our systems and services provide value and continue to meet the needs of the Health Sciences Center community.
