Summer Accelerated Biomedical Research (SABR) Internship
|
The SABR Program is an excellent educational opportunity, as well as a commitment to science and research. The SABR program will also introduce its interns to a full-time work schedule, which can be a first-time experience for many. Before you commit to joining the 2010 SABR Program, please consider whether you can meet all of the following expectations: 1. The 2010 SABR Program will begin on Monday, May 31st and end on Friday, August 6th. The stipend for this 10 week program will be approximately $3800. 2.A typical workweek will consist of at least 40 hours – sometimes more, if your experiments require. (Some night or weekend hours may be necessary). You will work with your mentor to create a daily/weekly schedule to support your experiments and research. Your lunch hour should not exceed 60 minutes. Anytime you are going to be 30+ minutes late or are sick, you must to notify the GSBS office (806-743-2556) and your mentor or lab. 3. Safety Classes, Friday Seminars, and any other designated events are REQUIRED Attendance, NO EXCEPTIONS. Make sure you use your SABR calendar and attend all the functions. Please make your mentor aware of each function you will be attending and that it is required. Any time you will not be attending due to sickness, you must notify the GSBS office prior to the event. Please try to arrive a few minutes early so we may start all functions on time. 4. The SABR Program is designed to complete your research project in a 10-week timeframe. Working on your own research project will be an immersive experience for the entire duration. If time off becomes necessary, permission must be granted at the beginning of the program. A full stipend is predicated on the 10-week period. 5. You are required to attend and participate in the entire SABR Symposium on the last day of the program. Your talk and abstract are mandatory. Travel plans are to be made accordingly. 6.Most importantly, our SABR Program is for you to learn new ideas, learn new techniques, meet new friends, and to have a great summer! You will be richly rewarded for your dedication and hard work. 2010 Application deadline is 15-February-2010 SABR is supported in part by the Laura W.
