New Medical Education Vice Chair for TTUHSC Paul L. Foster School of Medicine
Stephen Sandroni, M.D., has been appointed vice chair of the Department of MedicalEducation and clinical professor of internal medicine, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine.
Dr. Sandroni received his medical degree from New York Medical College, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut. He later completed a fellowship in nephrology from the University of Rochester, then accepted a position as a faculty nephrologist at the University of Florida Health Science Center in Jacksonville. He subsequently became chief of nephrology. While in Jacksonville, Dr. Sandroni pursued his interests in medical education, establishing a division of educational development and a medical informatics lab. He returned to Connecticut in 1997 to direct an inner-city, multi-specialty clinic for St. Mary’s Hospital and the Yale Primary Care and Med- Peds residencies. In 2001, he accepted a position as chief of nephrology for Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. While there, his group pursued research interests in dialysis morbidity, as well as vascular access issues, new technologies for dialysis, and clinical transplantation. Dr. Sandroni's interests include the analysis of medical errors and the uses of technology for small-group teaching.
