GME General Information
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine Paul L. Foster School of Medicine offers nine residency programs with approximately 205 residents. In addition, the TTUHSC Paul L. Foster SOM serves as a major participating institution for the orthopedic surgery residency program at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. All residency programs meet the accreditation standards of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Medical Specialties. All graduating residents are eligible candidates for specialty boards. The Program Director of each department manages the recruiting, education and training, and evaluation of the residents. The Graduate Medical Education Committee and the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education are responsible for general oversight and monitoring of all residency programs.
Primary Teaching Hospital - University Medical Center of El Paso
Most of the clinical experience in the TTUHSC residency programs at El Paso is provided at its affiliate hospital, University Medical Center of El Paso. It is El Paso's only not-for-profit, community-owned hospital and healthcare system and a regional referral center for patients in need of specialty care. It is the only El Paso hospital ever to be named one of the America's Top 100 hospitals.
