TRUE WHISPERS (60 minutes)
In celebration of Native American Awareness Month, our November film is the personal and heartfelt story of the Navajo Code Talkers. Young Navajo men were recruited from government boarding schools to serve in the U.S. Marines during World War II. TRUE WHISPERS is a moving testament to these forgotten heroes and their wartime contributions. The film combines breathtaking images of the Navajo reservation with original music, graphic World War II footage, archival photographs, historical re-enactments, and interviews with Navajo historians and leaders of the Navajo Nation.

Motherland Afghanistan (74 minutes)
Filmaker Sedika Mojadidi journeys to the heart of this medical tragedy by following her father's return to Afghanistan to battle one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world. After the U.S.-led invasion to oust the Taliban, Dr. Mojadidi returns to his war-ravaged-ravaged homeland to help rebuild and modernize the hospitals and clinics which serve the women of Afghanistan. Set against the backdrop of a land in turmoil and transition, this inspiring film reveals the devastating stories behind a reproductive health crisis essentially neglected by the Western media and provides a rare glimpse into the heart of humanity through the quiet deeds of those who attempt to heal.
